About the competition

You've done 48-hour films. You know you can make something fast. Now imagine having 90 days, a proven roadmap, and a built-in community behind you.

From Script to Screen is a workshop designed to support the Tally850 short film competition for independent filmmakers who are ready to take their next (or maybe their first!) step toward bringing their story to life.

From April 25th through July 25th, registered teams will move through a full production cycle: development, pre-production, production, and post, with a finished short film as the finish line.

To kick things off, we're offering a 4-session virtual workshop running this month. Each session covers a stage of the 90-day roadmap, with hands-on exercises and peer discussion designed to get you production-ready before registration closes.

Workshop tickets are $40 and attendees receive $10 off their Tally850 competition registration.

Workshop sessions:

  • Tues. May 5th, Session 1:  Your Story Starts Here: Idea development, genre & format, story elements, logline, and outlining your script

  • Thurs. May 7th, Session 2:  From Concept to Script: Building your pitch deck, mapping your funding strategy, and writing & registering your script

  • Tues. May 12th, Session 3:  Building Your Production Plan: Script breakdown, budgeting, scheduling, locations, casting, and legal essentials

  • Thurs. May 14th, Session 4:  Shoot It, Cut It, Submit It: Production day fundamentals and the full post-production pipeline from rough cut to delivery

Come for the structure. Stay for the community. Leave with a film.
