Lampshade made of skin

Recently I had the honor to create a prop for a local play! Now that it's no longer in production, I can finally share about it!

I was asked to make a lamp shade out of skin that could be manipulated from within.

Originally I was handed an old lampshade and crusty leather seats from an old Toyota for materials. However, I had a different idea in mind!

I decided to make the skin with a product called Dragon Skin. It's a 1:1 liquid formula, that when mixed together, it solidifies into latex! It's one of my favorite techniques for various styles of Special Effects!

Once the skin panels were made, I carefully hand stitched them together, and sealed the stitching with more latex. This allowed the lamp to keep its form without tearing when someone presses their hand against it! Needless to say, this prop was very effective forโ€ฆ

New Member (Writer/Producer) Developing First Feature

Hi - I was referred to this group/network by a friend, and I'm so glad he sent me your way. I'm working to produce/direct my first feature film, I'd Still Say Yes, a wedding dramedy that's a cross between "Father of the Bride" and "The Notebook". My agent represents "Father of the Bride". The story is set in Tallahassee, and I would love to work with local talent to bring this film to life. For more info: AntmarEntertainment.com
