Finally leveled up with a realistic squib effect! I used a tube taped up the leg, precut the hole, fed blood through with a syringe, and once the blood was at a good distance to the end, I used a CO² portable gun for a bicycle tires to use as the air compressor and achieve a quick eject rather than a slow leak to represent a practical gunshot.
Sometimes I surprise myself when I try something new with limited time and pressure .... and I still manage to pull off a look on the fly! Did this in about 30 minutes. Gotta love when an actor backs out of a film and you have to improvise. 😅
(Respectfully had to avoid his hair or I would have grayed him a bit more). Even had to paint his hands, but didn't get a photo of them. 🎬

Fun process with latex to create a realistic burn effect. The final look was for a ghostly victim, inspired by the lore of Elizabeth, the Haunting wife of Bellamy Bridge in Marianna. The film we made will be shown at the 72 hour premiere on October 25th!
